JOB SUMMARY:
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is the lead agency for the United States in carrying on a government-to-government relationship with the tribal nations. A challenging and dynamic place to work, it enhances the quality of life, promotes economic opportunity, and carries out the responsibility to protect and improve the trust assets of American Indians, Indian tribes and Alaska Natives.
The incumbent has program responsibility for prescribed fire, fuels management, smoke management, and wildland fire use. Provides professional expertise in the development and implementation of multiple resource objectives. Develops fuels treatment alternatives to support management decisions while adhering to applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines. Responsible for the smoke management program to ensure compliance with state air quality standards. Performs fiscal analysis, formulates the annual fuels management budget, and maintains a system of accounts to track program expenditures. This includes managing the budget from out-year planning to year-end closure. Maintains awareness of technological developments in wildland fire science and related disciplines.
