This vacancy is open to current permanent Title 5 Federal employees and status candidates.  This vacancy is being concurrently advertised under delegated examining under announcement NINDS-09-366942-CR-DE. Candidates who wish to be considered under both MUST apply to both vacancies.

JOB SUMMARY:

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), Division of Extramural Research (DER) is seeking applications from exceptional, visionary candidates with distinguished records in basic, translational and/or clinical neuroscience research to serve as Program Directors for the planning, evaluation, and administration of research on neurodegenerative disorders including  Alzheimer's disease (AD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) and stroke including hemorrhagic, ischemic and hypoxic brain injury. In addition, NINDS is also seeking an imaginative and resourceful neuroscientist with a strong background in bioengineering to lead a program of basic and clinical research in Neural Biomedical Engineering.  This is an exceptional opportunity for five candidates to join a highly interactive group of scientists and clinicians at the NINDS who are working across all areas of neuroscience and on a wide range of neurological disorders.
