STUDENT TRAINEE (Biological Sciences, Engineering)

SALARY RANGE: 13.14 - 14.01 USD /hour
Salaries listed are based on 2009 federal salary rates, and could be slightly higher at time of hire. Stipends are available upon meeting eligibility requirements.

POSITION INFORMATION: Full-time summer employment. Students will generally be placed in non-pay status during the school term.  Student Career Experience Program.
PROMOTION POTENTIAL: 09 DUTY LOCATIONS:   vacancy(s) in one of the following locations:   0006 vacancies - Throughout Oregon
WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED:   Applications will be accepted from United States citizens and nationals who are degree-seeking students enrolled at least half-time in accredited institutions.  Degree MUST be related to positions being filled and applicants must meet all listed requirements to be considered.  This program is intended for students interested in long-term, permanent employment, not temporary summer employment. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) may fill up to 6 positions in various locations throughout the state of Oregon http://www.traveloregon.com/ through the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) in Fiscal Year (FY) 2010. Positions to be filled are as trainee for Soil Conservationist, Soil Scientist, Rangeland Management Specialist, Agronomist, or Engineering positions.  Actual disciplines filled and number of positions filled will depend on the applicant pool.

The Student Career Experience Program is a planned, progressive education program that provides for the integration of a student's academic studies with target positions in the Federal workforce. The SCEP Program allows students to gain real, paid work experience while pursuing a college degree in a particular career field. Work locations vary each summer, and the duties and locations are designed to provide hands-on experience and training in the specific discipline for which hired.  At the agency's option, students who successfully complete all work, study, qualifications, and other eligibility requirements may be offered TERM/permanent positions with our agency upon graduation.
