Then join the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).  We can provide you with a great job where you’ll work with experienced, motivated professionals producing key economic data. Some of the basics about BEA:

-BEA promotes a better understanding of the U.S. economy by objectively providing the most timely, relevant, and accurate economic accounts data.

- BEA’s national, regional, industry, and international accounts present essential information on economic growth, regional development, inter-industry relationships, and the Nation’s position in the world economy.

- BEA is recognized throughout the United States and around the globe as a key source for the best and most comprehensive economic statistics available. Other important details you should know:

- BEA is a small agency. That means you won’t just be one in a crowd of faceless number crunchers, but rather part of a team of economists and accountants who work together to make sure BEA data are accurate and informative.

- BEA produces some of the most closely watched economic statistics. That means the work that you do here really matters, and even influences decisions made by government officials, businesses, and households across America. When BEA produces numbers, people pay attention. You will be a part of the process, every step of the way.  From gathering data to producing economic estimates to providing analyses of your work, you will be an important part of producing BEA’s economic statistics.

- BEA helps everyone from college students to business leaders get a picture of the Nation’s economy. There is a core commitment to making our data clearer and more accessible to everyone from key government decision makers to researchers to the general American public. - BEA has a pay-for-performance system that mimics the private sector. That means you are rewarded for hard work and good performance. There are also advancement opportunities to keep moving your career forward in the agency. Some of the things that really matter when you’re looking for a job:

- Location, location, location.  BEA is located in the heart of downtown DC, only blocks from the White House, the Washington Monument and the Smithsonian Museums.

- BEA is surrounded by many diverse restaurants, coffee shops and other attractions.  Chinatown and the Penn Quarter, with their wealth of entertainment venues, are just a short Metro ride away, and trendy neighborhoods like Dupont and Logan Circles, and Adams Morgan are all within walking distance.

- BEA is located only a few blocks from 3 Metro stops, so you’ll have easy access to everything else DC and the surrounding metropolitan areas have to offer.  And BEA offers benefits to help pay for the cost of your work commute by public transit.

- BEA strongly supports professional and educational growth, encouraging training and offering tuition assistance. - BEA is a fun, friendly agency to work for, with an upbeat and cooperative spirit. Our staff includes BEA “lifers” who are passionate about their jobs and newer arrivals fresh out of college and full of enthusiasm. We draw talent from across the country, and we’re serious about retaining a diverse, energetic workforce.

- BEA has an on-site gym and also provides discounts to some of the many neighborhood gyms. For even more exercise opportunities, you could join BEA’s softball or flag football team.
