This vacancy is open to current permanent Title 5 Federal employees 
and status candidates. Title 42 employees without 
reinstatement eligibility are not eligible. The vacancy is being 
concurrently advertised under delegated examining procedures for U.S. 
citizens and Title 42 employees under announcement HHS/NIH-2010-0227. 
Candidates who wish to be considered under both procedures MUST apply

The NIAID is a $4.6 billion research organization that leads, 
supports and conducts research to understand, treat, and prevent 
infectious, immunologic and allergic diseases throughout the world. 
NIAID supports well over 100 major research programs and initiatives 
within three broad, distinct mission areas: Biodefense research 
($1.7 billion/year), AIDS research ($1.4 billion/year) and the NIAID 
traditional research mission of immunologic and infectious diseases 
($1.3 billion/year), which, for instance, includes national research 
programs to combat disease such as malaria and tuberculosis, global 
killers of millions of people annually. NIAID is the lead institute 
at NIH and for the U.S. Government for these three broad research 
missions and provides leadership and support to research activities 
in over 800 organizations principally in the United States, but also 
world-wide in more than 80 countries. 

This position is located in the Office of Administrative Services 
(OAS), Office of Science Management and Operations (OSMO), Office of 
the Director (OD), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious 
Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of 
Health and Human Services (HHS).

If you are an exceptionally talented, knowledgeable and motivated 
individual, and have abilities in the following:

* ability to apply a knowledge of management policies, and 
regulations, and their application, and how they relate to personnel, 
budget, contracts, procurement, property, renovations and 
construction, in order to provide comprehensive management advice 
and direction;

* ability to communicate information to people from diverse areas and 
disciplines, in order to provide overall administrative direction, 
and ensure that Division initiatives are accomplished;

* ability to apply a knowledge of the objectives, goals, and complex 
activities of the intramural programs, in order to oversee the 
accomplishment of Division initiatives;

* ability to supervise and lead teams of administrative staff;
