JOB SUMMARY:

Transportation impacts every facet of American life, providing
people access to work, school, loved ones, and nature's rich bounty.
The Federal Railroad Administration promotes and enforces safety
throughout the U.S. railroad system, rehabilitate the Northeast
Corridor rail passenger services, consolidate Federal support for
rail transportation, and support research and development for rail
transportation for passengers, railroad employees and the general
public.

Duty Locations:  Three positions will be filled, one in each region identified. Eastern Region: (Baltimore, Maryland; Wilmington, Delaware; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Altoona, Pennsylvania; State College, Pennsylvania; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Southern Region: Atlanta, Georgia; Jacksonville, Florida; Southwestern Region: Long View, Texas.  You must identify the location(s) for which you wish to be considered. The salary will be adjusted to include locality pay upon selection.

You will be responsible for performing on-site inspections,
investigations, and evaluating tank car facility quality assurance
programs, which address the repair and qualifications of railroad
tank cars that transport hazardous material.   


This position is perfect for a mid-level professional proficient in
identifying trends, with strong analytical skills,that can perform studies and make recommendations to improve safety.  Applicant should have experience in the Hazardous Material (HazMat) discipline within the railroad environment, and have experience dealing with tank car
quality assurance programs, as well as be aware of HazMat issues
affecting railroad safety to develop, direct and manage various
aspects of a safety. Good communication skills are necessary.
