ABOUT THE AGENCY
The IRS is a bureau of the Department of Treasury and one of the world's most efficient tax administration organizations. The mission of the IRS is to provide America's taxpayers top quality service by helping them understand and meet their tax responsibilities and by applying the tax law with integrity and fairness to all. The volume and complexity of IRS operations have expanded tremendously during the last half-century. Our future is being shaped by many factors. Our customer base is diverse and ever-changing, as are the economic and social conditions in which we live and conduct business. Therefore, we must be prepared to respond to an increasing and more demanding and sophisticated population, a more global and multi-lingual environment, and an increasing number of taxpayers with complex financial holdings and the means and motive to resist the payment of taxes. In addition, we face frequent tax law changes, more numerous and complex tax schemes and, internally, a workforce that will require replenishing in the very near future. The challenges are indeed many.
As a participant in the IRS SES leadership program you have the opportunity to take on these challenges. You will receive structured professional development and gain valuable executive experience with other like-minded talented candidates, all the while making a real difference in an organization that impacts every single American business, corporation (profit and non-profit), and US citizen here in the United States and abroad.
