JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as an intern in the National Weather Service (NWS) Forecaster 
Development Program.  Provides and coordinates weather information, 
warnings, NWS products and forecasts for the Weather Forecast 
Office.  

Salaries shown for this vacancy include locality 
pay. Applicants interested in relocating to a 
different geographic location should be aware 
that their salary is subject to change.

     salary range:   GS-5 $31,723 - $41,241
                     GS-7 $39,295 - $51,085
                     GS-9 $48,066 - $62,486

two vacancies in Charleston WV
     salary range:   GS-5 $30,772 - $40,005
                     GS-7 $38,117 - $49,553
                     GS-9 $46,625 - $60,612

This position is also being advertised as a Meteorologist Intern, 
GS-1340-5/7/9 KPP GS-11 under announcement number NWS-ER-2010-0017 
(open to status applicants) and as a Meteorological Technician 
GS-1341-11 under announcement number NWS-ER-2010-0021 (open to NWS 
employees only).  You must apply separately under each announcement 
to be considered for each announcement.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must meet the Basic Education Requirement per OPM Qualification Standards.
  • Shift work is required. Must be able to work weekends/rotating shifts.
